Guanzon takes oath as party-list lawmaker, thanks kakampink votes

Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on Thursday took her oath of office as representative of the P3PWD party-list in the incoming 19th Congress.

Guanzon said the petition filed by National Youth Commission chairperson Ronald Gian Cardema and his wife Duterte Youth party-list Rep. Ducielle Marie Cardema is now “moot.”

Guanzon said that if the Cardema couple wanted to pursue the case they should go to the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET) instead.

Guanzon said she was relieved that the issue of her substitution as a P3PWD nominee is now over.

“I can’t tell you how relieved I am after all of these issues sa substitution ko, at nagpapasalamat po ako sa inyong lahat sa pag support all the way, sa prayers nyo at sa mga statements of support ninyo lalo na po sa mga persons with disabilities na may mga organisasyon at sa pamilya,” she said.

She also expressed hope that her three-year term at the House of Representatives will be fruitful.

Guanzon thanked her family, friends, the P3PWD, her campaign team, and supporters for believing in her.

Guanzon also disclosed that on Monday she will file a complaint against the NYC chairman before the Office of the Ombudsman for violating the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

“Kasi di ba ano siya opisyal siya, Undersecretary sya eh ng National Youth Commission ginagamit pa nya yung official government time nya para lang sirain ako eh tsaka personal yung mga atake nya, meron Code of Ethics tayo eh yun yung nilabag nya,” Guanzon added.

Guanzon said she will be holding a consultation next month to address the issues of PWDs and their families.
