No more speakership battle.
After dutifully serving as Majority Leader, Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez will finally be leading the House of Representatives.
Romualdez has officially received an endorsement from his cousin presumptive President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to become the Speaker of the 19th Congress. The House leader, currently the chair of Lakas-CMD party, is a cousin of Marocs.
Politiko first reported Marcos’ inclination to support Romualdez as next Speaker instead of incoming Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. More allies are also reportedly supportive of Romualdez to lead the next Congress.
