Duterte Youth party-list Rep. Ducielle Marie Cardema on Friday defended vice-president-in-waiting Sara Duterte against critics who questioned her capability to lead the Department of Education (DepEd).
“If you need to reform and uplift a very big organization, specially the biggest in the country like DepEd, what you need basically is, a strong leadership character, and the nation knows that Mayor Sara Duterte is a strongwoman leader with a strong political will to enact changes,” said Cardema in a statement.
Earlier, reelectionist Sen. Risa Hontiveros said that it would be better if an education expert would lead DepEd following the announcement of president-in-waiting Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that Duterte will be appointed Education secretary.
Cardema also pointed out that being the chief executive of Davao City, Duterte led the Local School Board “at sinosolution-an ang mga problema ng mga guro at mag-aaral sa kanyang locality.”
The lady solon is confident that Duterte is right for the job.
